Former Stars D-Man Receives NCAA League Accolades

Geregach Honored by AHA Division I Hockey League

BOSTON, MA. - November 11, 2024 - Atlantic Hockey America has honored four student-athletes as AHA Players of the Week for their outstanding on-ice performances in games of Nov. 4 - 10, 2024.

This league's recipients included former Esmark Stars standout defenseman and Mercyhurst University senior, Dustin Geregach, as "AHA Defenseman of the Week."

Geregach scored three goals for the Lakers in three games over the past week. Geregach scored twice, once short-handed, on Monday, Nov. 4 vs. Robert Morris, giving him his first multi-goal game of the season. He scored the first goal of the game at 3:11 of the 1st period, then scored a short-handed goal at 18:27 of the 2nd period. The McKees Rocks, Penn. native then scored his third goal of the week on Friday, Nov. 8 at 19:05 of the 1st period vs. Sacred Heart. On the season, Geregach is up to 10 points on four goals and six assists. His 10 points lead the Lakers and is tied for fifth in Atlantic Hockey.

Geregach played for the Esmark Stars during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. He tendered with the Johnstown Tomahawks of the NAHL after his final 18U season and skated for the Tomahawks during the 2020-21 season and part of the 2021-22 campaign, before accepting a scholarship to Mercyhurst, where and joined the Lakers midway through the 2021-22 season.

Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) embarks on its first season in 2024-25 after the merger between the Atlantic Hockey Association and College Hockey America. The conference fields 11 men’s teams (American International College, Bentley University, Canisius University, The College of Holy Cross, Mercyhurst University, Niagara University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Robert Morris University, Sacred Heart University, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Military Academy), and six women’s teams (Lindenwood University, Mercyhurst University, Penn State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Robert Morris University, and Syracuse University).
