Pittsburgh, PA - As the Pittsburgh Stars AAA Hockey Program, proud members of the Tier I Hockey Federation (T1HF) and the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAT1HL), prepare for the holiday season, they return to the ice this upcoming weekend, Dec 20 - 22, for exciting AAA hockey action as they continue to celebrate the Star's 40th season and bring a close to the 2024 portion of their 2024-2025 schedule.
The U18 AAA Midget Major Pittsburgh Stars return to Pittsburgh as they welcome the Cleveland Barons U18 squad to town for a pair of weekend games. On Saturday, Dec 21, the Midget Major Stars and Barons squads will face-off at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, Dec 22, they will close the two-game weekend set with a 12:00 p.m. opening face-off.
The Sunday game, 12:00 p.m., will serve as the Midget Major U18 AAA Stars Community Initiative Game, with the Officer Brian Shaw Foundation being the charity honored. All proceeds from the game’s events will be donated to the charity.
Officer Shaw, brother of former Stars player Steffan Shaw was tragically murdered during a routine traffic stop while on duty for the New Kensington Police Department on Nov 17, 2017. Brian's "end of shift" occurred at approximately 8:00 pm on the evening of the 17th as he attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a vehicle. After a short vehicle pursuit, a passenger fled from the vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued. During that foot pursuit the passenger opened fire on Brian after fleeing from the vehicle, fatally wounding him.
The Officer Brian Shaw Foundation is dedicated to carrying on Brian's legacy by making donations and support to help local communities, first responders, and those in need.
The U15 AAA Midget Minor Pittsburgh Stars and U16 AAA Midget Minor Pittsburgh Stars will also return to Pittsburgh as they welcome the Revolution Premier U15 & U16 squads to the friendly confines of Pittsburgh Ice Arena for a pair of weekend of Tier I Hockey Federation (T1HF) league games this Saturday and Sunday, Dec 21 & 22.
While the The U16 AAA Midget Minor Pittsburgh Stars and the U16 Revolution Premier will take to the ice at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.,m. on Sunday.
The U15 AAA Midget Minor Pittsburgh Stars and the U15 Revolution Premier will take to the ice at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.,m. on Sunday.
The U14 AAA Bantam Major Pittsburgh Stars will travel to Detroit, MI, to participate in the Tier I Elite Hockey League (T1EHL) Detroit Showcase. First up will be an 11:15 a.m. opening face-off against the Colorado Rampage 14U AAA at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center in Dearborn, MI, on Friday, Dec 20. They return to the ice for a pair of games on Saturday, Dec 21. First up will a 10:15 a.m. showdown with the Milwaukee Jr Admirals. Then at 6:00 p.m., the Stars and Belle Tire will square-off. Both Saturday games will be at the at the Taylor Sportsplex in Taylor, MI. The Stars close the showcase with an 11:30 a.m. game against Biosteel Academy back at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center on Sunday, Dec 22.
The U13 Red Bantam Minor Pittsburgh Stars will also return to the friendly confines of Pittsburgh Ice Arena for a pair of games this Sunday, Dec 22, as they face the Columbus Capitals at 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Likewise, the U13 White Bantam Minor Pittsburgh Stars will also return to the friendly confines of Pittsburgh Ice Arena for a pair of games on Saturday, Dec 21, against the Columbus Capitals. The Stars and Capitals squads will face-off at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The 6:00 p.m. Saturday game, will serve as the Bantam Minor U13 White AAA Stars Community Initiative Game, with Belair Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center being the charity honored. All proceeds from the game’s events will be donated to the charity.
