Stars Set for Exciting AAA Hockey Weekend Action

Pittsburgh, PA - The Pittsburgh Stars AAA Hockey Program, proud members of the Tier I Hockey Federation (T1HF) and the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAT1HL), will return to the ice this upcoming weekend, Jan 30 – Feb 2, for exciting AAA hockey action as they continue to celebrate the Star's 40th season.

Two Pittsburgh Stars teams (U18 AAA Midget MajorU16 AAA Midget Minor) will be in Pittsburgh to participate in the NAPHL Tier I - Pittsburgh Showcase. All showcase games will be held at the UPMC Lemieux Center in Cranberry Township unless noted otherwise.

The U18 AAA Midget Major Pittsburgh Stars will open their NAT1HL Pittsburgh Showcase at 3:50 p.m on Friday, Jan 31, against the Buffalo Jr Sabres. On Saturday, Feb 1, the Stars will face-off against the Philadelphia Little Flyers at 5:45 p.m. On Sunday, Feb 2, the Stars U18 team will play twice, opening with the Madison Capitols at 8:10 a.m. and then closing the Showcase with a 4:20 p.m. showdown with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite.

The U16 Midget Minor Pittsburgh Stars will open their NAT1HL Pittsburgh Showcase at 11:30 a.m. against the Madison Capitols (at the RMU Island Sports Center on Neville Island) then returning to the ice in Cranberry at 7:50 p.m. to face Biggby Coffee. On Saturday, Feb 1, the Stars Midget Minor squad will face-off against Indy Elite at 1:45 p.m. The Stars U16 team will close their NAT1HL Pittsburgh Showcase with a 2:10 p.m. game against Gilmour Academy.

The U15 AAA Midget Minor Pittsburgh Stars will welcome CarShield U15 AAA to the friendly confines of Pittsburgh Ice Arena for a pair of weekend games, 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The Saturday game, 10:00 a.m., will serve as the U15 Midget Minor AAA Stars Community Initiative Game, with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown being the charity honored. All proceeds from the game’s events will be donated to the charity.

Celebrating their 45th Anniversary of serving the Greater Pittsburgh area, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, Inc., provides families with a “home-away-from-home” for seriously ill children receiving medical treatment in both Pittsburgh and Morgantown. The charity is committed to helping children and their families lead happier, healthier and more productive lives.”

 

The U14 AAA Bantam Major Pittsburgh Stars will travel south to Coral Gables, FL, to participate in the Florida Exposure Cup. The Stars open the five-game minimum tournament on Thursday, Jan 30 with a pair of round-robin games against the Buffalo Regals, 10:30 a.m., and the Connecticut Jr Rangers, 5:30 p.m. On Friday, Jan 31, the Stars Bantam Major squad will close the round-robin portion of their schedule with a 10:45 a.m. game against the Oakland Jr Grizzlies. Seeding for quarter-final and consolation games on Saturday and Sunday will occur post round-robin play. The tournament championship game is set for 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb 2. All games will be played at the Panther’s Ice Den in Coral Gables.

The U12 AAA Pee Wee Major Pittsburgh Stars squad will travel to Euclid, OH, for a pair of (T1HF) league games on Sunday, Feb 2, against the Ohio Prospects. Game times are set for 10:30 and 3:00 p.m. at the C.E. Orr Arena in Euclid.

The U13 Red AAA Bantam Major Pittsburgh Stars and U13 White AAA Bantam Major Pittsburgh Stars will enjoy a scheduled weekend off.

Game schedules for the '24-'25 season, as well as team rosters, have all been posted to the various Pittsburgh Stars team pages on the Stars website (www.pittsburghstarshockey.com).
